Operational WIS2 Nodes
Operational WIS2 Nodes
On the WIS2 Network data is shared using WIS2 Nodes which are deployed by WIS Centres.
Two types of WIS Centres may host WIS2 Nodes:
- National Centres (NCs)
- Data Collection or Production Centres (DCPCs)
WIS Centres are defined in the Manual on WIS (WMO-No.1060), Volume I (APPENDIX B. APPROVED WIS CENTRES)
Each WIS2 Node has centre-id that provides a unique identifier for the WIS2 Node within the network. Note that one WIS Centre may have more than one WIS2 Node.
To add a new operational WIS2 Node to the WIS2 Network, the WIS Centre needs to register their WIS2 Node in the WIS2 Global Registry. This is done through the National Focal Point on WIS Matter who provides the local MQTT-broker details and unique centre-id to the WMO Secretariat. Once the WIS2 Node is registered, the WMO Secretariat will inform Global Brokers to subscribe and re-publish WIS2 Notifications from the WIS2 Node. For more information on the WIS2 Node Registration process please visit this page.
